The origins of this restaurant lie in the Fonda Lluna where, aside from lodging, guests would come to dine. Current owner Maria’s mother and aunt cooked at the inn. e duo became famous for their mussels which followed a traditional Basque recipe, but with a touch of sautéed onion. And the customers couldn’t get enough of it, speci cally requesting her sauce on all sorts of dishes. e Germans would eat it with soup, the Italians with spaghetti, and the French with sh suquet. Marina and her husband, Sebastián, started a new place behind the village church in 1983 to continue the sauce recipe, expanding their menu to include meat, sh, and rice dishes. Now Marina’s daughter, Núria, runs this restaurant which has been passed on from generation to generation, much like the secret recipe itself!
