In 1930, Lluïsa and Joan built a bar next to their house where they served liquors and all kinds of tapas. “It was more of a left-wing bar, while the right-wingers and the bourgeois went to a café in the center. As it turned out, there was also another bar for those who didn’t swing either way called El Imparcial (The Impartial)”, they explained. Over time, they passed the business on to their children and started doing mixed grills and cannelloni on Sundays. In 1978, they finally opened as a full restaurant and began to cook fish dishes, eventually developing an extensive menu. ere’s a picturesque produce farm out back, from where they source fresh veggies for their kitchen. This establishment, which keeps being passed on from parents to children, is now in its fourth generation and has become a landmark restaurant in Hostalric.
