Josep Maria and Paquita opened this restaurant in Palamós in 1969, which is now run by their son, Antoni Izquierdo, and his wife, Ana Maria. Spurred on by his passion for cooking from a young age, Antoni went to train at the Girona Hospitality School and the Madrid Gastronomy and Tourism School. He also worked as a cooking teacher in Sant Pol de Mar before deciding to return to his roots at his parent’s restaurant. He’s always been focused on regional cuisine, striving to find the best possible produce from local farmers and fishermen. For much of his life, Toni’s been linked to the L’Empordanet, an organization of distinguished chefs who promote Catalan cuisine and regional produce both here and abroad. The prawns are a highlight of the Mas dels Arcs, but you mustn’t pass on other seafood dishes such as squid and rice.
