Maçanet de Cabrenys is a beautiful town of just over 600 inhabitants
which is known for its culinary tradition, prompting tourists to come
here to dine. In 1971, Dolors and Joan opened a small bar in a farmhouse
after they’d given up working as mule drivers. With great effort and perseverance,
the Solà family managed to gradually grow the business and
adapt to the passage of time. Nowadays, the third generation runs this
genuine hotel-restaurant of Empordà Catalan cuisine, which specialises
in seasonal products. The team does the foie gras themselves as well as
the roast dishes which follow the recipes of the grandmother yet add an
innovative touch. They’ve also got an extensive wine list, of which 125
varieties are from right here in Empordà. The hotel has 14 rooms and
has fully adhered to the new distinction of a Gastronomic Hotel.
