The third generation of the Sort-Peguera family runs this hotel-restaurant, which reopened in 1941 in a magnificent modernist building from 1875. Alfons in the dining room and his sister Mariona in the kitchen form the perfect tandem duo, aided by Mother Maria Rosa who symbolises the emblematic establishment. Its location on the road between France and Spain made it an obligatory stop for travelers to rest and grab a bite to eat. The dishes are always made from locally sourced produce. The highlight is a dish that’s been served continually since its inception: the red rooster cooked Grandmother Quica style with 100% local ingredients and poultry raised by the team themselves in the town of Arsèguel. This is tasty and classic cuisine based on traditional Catalan recipes that have been adapted to the modern age.
