Cousins Xavi and Oriol are the third generation of the Viladevay family to run this hostel restaurant which their grandparents Rosa and Ramon founded in the tiny town of d’Erill la Vall. Located right in front of the Romanesque Santa Eulalia Church – a Unesco World Heritage Site – La Plaça began as a bar and store and grew steadily over the years. Xavi now takes charge of the room, while Oriol, who has ample experience in the kitchen, does the cooking. Their gastronomic proposal strives to embrace modern times without losing the essence of the older generation. On their menu, we find traditional dishes with a modern touch such as the “escudella barrejada” (a hearty stew), locally sourced mushroom risotto, grandmother’s cannelloni, and organic veal stew.
