In 1959, a great textile crisis crippled the factory where the current owner’s parents worked, so they decided to change career paths by opening the Fonda Sala. As a child, their son Toni Sala would run circles around the dining room. Later, while he was at school, he helped his parents out where he could. Toni really wanted to be a chef when he finished school. There weren’t any nearby hospitality schools at the time, so he went to learn about the restaurant business in Barcelona and implemented all this acquired knowledge when he returned back home. With the help of his wife, Aurora, and later his children, Toni and Sergi, the family would become well-known throughout the region for their cooking. Here, they offer market fresh and seasonal cuisine based on ingredients such as mushrooms, game meat, and truffle.
