Can Jeroni opened its doors in 1928 in a privileged location overlooking the market, serving breakfast to the merchants who travelled to Figueres to build the canals. Thursday was always market day, so the town would fill with people who came to shop at one of the best markets in the region. The founder Jeroni left his restaurant to Pere when it came time to pass it on because he had no children of his own. Nowadays, Pere’s oldest granddaughter Roser runs the show. Can Jeroni still serves typical home-style cuisine and offers a long list of local à la carte wines, handpicked by Roser who is a sommelier by profession. She ensures she only buys locally sourced and seasonal produce, and changes the menu four times a year to follow the seasons.
