Pep Manubens was and is an icon in the world of hospitality in Barcelona. We could say that he set a trend for the concept ³show cooking² of the city and his business, which he has spent thirty years, fell in love with and loyalty to, a great many clients. One couple, however, Robert and Isabel, were predestined to follow Pep's legacy. His first date was at this restaurant, in 1997, a place he already frequented, but thereafter it became his go-to spot for a good meal. In 2014 they learned that Pep was retiring, and with the help of a pool of friends, committed to keeping everything exactly as Pep had left him, they set out in front of the business with sympathy and good judgment. What is special about Cal Pep is that it eats wonderfully. It eats wonderfully with raw materials, the prices are fair considering the high quality of the product, they make you feel more of the family and where everything works perfectly. It is one of those places where you choose to sit at the bar for lunch to watch the ³happening², but Pep has some additions that make it unique. The recipes are the same as their beginnings and the staff almost everything too. It is the essence of the well-cooked cuisine, the well-preserved tradition and the quality brought to the extreme. Don't miss their excellent potato omelette, sausage with foie gras, tuna tartar or any of their baked fish of the day, along with potatoes to lick your fingers.
