The current owner’s grandfather, Siscu, learned to cook in a private home in Barcelona. Back then, there weren’t any cooking schools so aspiring chefs had to learn from experienced cooks who would share their knowledge. In 1932, he moved and settled in Lloret, becoming one of the first restaurateurs in the town. These days, his grandson Pau is the third generation (with occasional help from the great-grandchild) to specialise in the region’s most distinctive cuisine, the rice ubiquitous dish. Favourites include seafood paella, rice with crayfish, pork trotters with black sausage and chickpeas. “Our customer service is very homely, even the workers are treated as if they were family”, they tell us.
